The two-step cleanse — when do you actually need it
Double cleansing is not a nightly rule for everyone. It is the right response to specific days.
Double cleansing has become one of the most talked-about skincare steps — and also one of the most misunderstood. The honest answer is: it depends on what your skin was carrying that day.
What a single cleanser handles well
A water-based cleanser removes water-soluble residue effectively — daily sebum, sweat, environmental particles, and water-based skincare products. On a day where that is all your skin has accumulated, one step is genuinely enough.
When one step is not enough
Sunscreen is engineered to resist. It holds its position through sweat and humidity — which is exactly what makes it work as UV protection. That same resistance makes it difficult for a water-based cleanser to remove completely. What remains sits on your skin overnight. The same applies to most face coverage products.
How an oil cleanser removes what water cannot
Oil dissolves oil. When massaged onto dry skin, the cleansing oil binds to sunscreen and makeup, breaking them down. Adding water causes the oil to emulsify — it turns milky and rinses away cleanly, taking everything with it.
So when do you actually need both?
You wore sunscreen — yes, double cleanse. You wore any face coverage — yes, double cleanse. Extended time outdoors — yes, double cleanse. Day at home, no sunscreen, no coverage — your gentle cleanser alone is enough.
How to use AuraCalm Gentle Cleansing Oil

Use as the first step when you have worn sunscreen or any face coverage.
- Apply a small amount to your dry face — do not wet face first.
- Massage gently across face in circular motions. Oil dissolves sunscreen and makeup as you massage.
- Add a small amount of water — the oil will turn milky as it emulsifies.
- Rinse off thoroughly. No greasy residue should remain.
- Follow immediately with the 2IN1 Cleanser as your second cleanse step.
